Sunrise Story #91

This is the 91st installment of a 100-day challenge to write a new vignette every morning.

Their argument could be heard across the parking lot. They’d fought before—in public, even—but never as intensely as this evening.

It began the moment they stepped out of the movie theater.

“How can you be so—How can you be so wrong?” Leigh shouted after her sister as they both tore through the parking lot. Their yelling paused for a moment, and the only sound that passed between them was boots on asphalt.

A few yards from the car, Sammy whirled to face Leigh. “It just doesn’t make any sense!”

“What doesn’t make sense?”

“It was a cult the whole time? What—How—They didn’t set that up at all!”

“How did you miss it? It was right there! Don’t you have eyes?”

“Don’t you have critical thinking skills?”

They continued in this manner the entire drive home. When they barged into their house, slamming the front door, their mother knew better than to ask about the movie.
