This is the 68th installment of a 100-day challenge to write a new vignette every morning.
She was too busy always talking about what she wanted to do to actually do any of it. Day after day, Christina spoke about the adventures she’d have and chronicled these dreams in her blog and made lists within lists in half-finished bullet journals. She spoke. She wrote. She planned.
But she did nothing.
“I’ll hike the PCT next year. Just like Cheryl Strayed,” she wrote in one post. She must’ve meant it at the time—she didn’t care enough about social media clout to lie—but she never even hiked the trail down the street.
“I enrolled in a paint class at the community college. I can’t wait to get started!” she wrote in another post. She never even set foot in the classroom.
“I’ll save up and spend next summer in Italy.” She didn’t.
She’d never do any of it now, but her mother read through the blog over and over. Christina’s imagined future was all they had now.
